Weatherford Wags – Empowering Rescue with Smart Automation
Designed with modern responsiveness and real-time data integration, the website enhances user experience while streamlining internal workflows through automation. The result: a powerful tool that helps connect more dogs with adopters and fosters – faster and more efficiently.
Key Features
Responsive, Accessible Design
Fully optimized for all screen sizes with accessibility best practices in place, including color contrast and ARIA labels for inclusive navigation.
SEO Strategy and Implementation
SEO shaped the project from the earliest planning stages. We conducted extensive keyword research to develop the site's architecture and content strategy, then implemented SEO best practices throughout the website, including optimized title tags and meta descriptions, structured schema markup, and comprehensive on-page optimization. As search continues to evolve, we have also expanded the site's SEO strategy, preparing it for emerging AI-assisted discovery and helping establish a strong foundation for both traditional search engines and evolving browsing experiences.
Streamlined Form Handling
The site includes a contact form that routes inquiries to the appropriate department, along with several operational forms – like foster updates, questionnaires, and needs submissions – that are also automatically directed to the right team, streamlining communication and reducing admin work.
Embedded Applications
Adoption and foster applications are embedded directly from the organization’s animal management system, keeping data centralized and consistent while maintaining a seamless user experience.
Live Dog Listings via API Integration
The website displays all available dogs by pulling real-time data from the rescue’s animal management system via API. Visitors can filter the listings by name, age, gender, breed, size, and whether a foster home is needed. Dogs requiring foster care are clearly marked with a “Foster Needed” badge, making them easy to identify and helping prioritize placement.
Dynamic Dog Profiles
Automatically populated via API with up-to-date information, including name, age, gender, breed, weight, and a short bio – eliminating duplicate entry and ensuring consistency.
Automated Highlight Sections
The site features several dynamic sections – including Spotlight Dogs, Recently Adopted, and Foster Needed – all powered by real-time API data. These sections update automatically based on the dog’s status in the animal management system, making it easy for rescue volunteers to manage content without touching the website.
Content Strategy and Copywriting
We developed the website's content strategy and copy to support every stage of the rescue's mission. From planning the site's structure around search visibility to creating clear pathways for adopters, fosters, volunteers, and donors, every page was designed to answer questions, build trust, and guide visitors toward meaningful action.
Resource Library
To further support the rescue's mission, the site includes a growing resource library featuring practical information for foster families and pet owners. Resources such as the Foster Guide and Pet Help Resources page provide lasting value to the community while supporting the website's long-term content marketing strategy and organic search presence.
2026 Website Refresh
After originally designing and developing the website, we refreshed it in 2026 to create a more modern, polished, and professional experience while preserving the robust foundation we had established during the original project. The updated design reinforces the rescue's credibility, strengthens its visual identity, and creates a more engaging experience for prospective adopters, fosters, volunteers, and supporters.
The refresh also introduced dedicated profile pages for every adoptable dog, replacing the original modal-based profiles. This change makes it easier for visitors to explore and share individual dogs while providing a stronger foundation for search engines and emerging AI-assisted browsing technologies to understand and surface information about each dog.
Building on the website's existing SEO foundation, we also expanded its technical optimization to support evolving search technologies, helping ensure the site remains well positioned as the way people discover information continues to change.
